My name is Emma Morton-Turner and I am an interior stylist and writer.
I’ve been an interior stylist for over 15 years. Gosh, where did that time go? Since starting in this industry, I bought a house, then another one -still work in progress! I had a daughter, then another one. I ran the New York Marathon, then the London one. Then I went freelance and the fun really began.
In the beginning I was the Homes assistant on Homes & Ideas magazine- I knew that degree in Product design with engineering would come in handy some day! I worked on all the practical pages and ‘makes’ including soft furnishings, adding embellishments to cushions and was often seen wielding a hammer and drill on the more DIY led projects. Photographers would run away screaming!
I then moved to Woman & Home and after a few years was offered the Homes Editor job, which I did for 5 fabulous years. The interior pages were full of Easter flower arranging, fabrics (my all time favourite thing in the world) wallpapers, furniture, real home and garden shoots and of course great big Christmas, Easter and Alfresco entertaining shoots. It was incredibly hard work, seriously challenging and really creative. But as they say, all good things must come to an end and I decided it was time to move on so I could concentrate on bigger shoots…. and see my daughters a bit more often.
In 2011 I went freelance and haven’t looked back since. I’ve worked for some fantastic magazines, blogs and on commercial photo shoots. It’s a busy life, but that’s the way I like it. If I’m not shooting, I’m writing. If I’m not writing I’m propping for shoots and if I’m not propping I’m baking (I have a cake blog too CakesBakesAndCookies)
This is a place for me to share all my styling adventures as I go. I hope you enjoy the ride.
